Add subtitles to any video on iPhone.
Three ways: the track already inside the file, an online search from inside the player, or a subtitle add-on you connect once.
Steps

Start the video
Play the title in 4789. Tap the screen to show the controls.

Tap the speech bubble
This opens the subtitle list. Tracks inside the file appear first, including styled SSA and ASS tracks.

Search online if the file has none
Tap Search Subtitles. Pick the language. The match is fetched for the exact movie or episode.

Fix the timing
If the words come early or late, use the + and − delay buttons. Each tap moves 50 ms.

Make it readable
In the same sheet, change text size, colour and outline thickness. The setting sticks for future videos.

Add a subtitle provider
Settings → Sources → Subtitles. Paste a compatible subtitle manifest URL once, and its results show up in every search.
Casting to the TV
The subtitle track you pick on the phone is sent to 4789 TV with the video. Switch tracks from the phone remote without restarting.
Offline downloads
Downloaded titles keep subtitle and audio switching with no connection.
