Keep it on your network
The phone and destination must be able to reach each other. Guest Wi-Fi isolation and some VPN routes can prevent discovery even when both devices have internet access.
Browsing is a phone job. Watching is a television job. 4789 lets each screen do the part it is good at.

The destination changes; the title, source choice, progress, and playback controls stay in the same 4789 journey.
4789 does not pretend every cast target supports the same files or controls. Pick the route that matches the room.
| Destination | Best for | Setup | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4789 TV | The complete first-party experience: discovery, progress, D-pad controls, track selection, and receiver-specific recovery. | Install the APK, open the app, then choose the TV from iPhone. | Available |
| Kodi | People who already have a Kodi box and want to keep its playback setup. | Enable HTTP and remote control in Kodi, then add or discover the device. | Supported |
| Chromecast | Common, cast-friendly files with minimal setup. | Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi and choose the Chromecast. | Supported |
| 4789 for Mac | Continuing a couch decision on the desk without starting over. | The Mac app advertises itself as a local receiver while running. | Coming soon |

Pause or seek with the television remote and the phone catches up. Use the phone and the receiver reports the same playhead back.
Supported receivers expose audio and subtitle tracks while the title is playing, without sending you back to source selection.
Opening, buffering, and recovery have explicit time limits. A dead source should become an actionable state, not an endless spinner.
Install the current compatibility receiver, then pick it from the iPhone app when your build is ready.
